The repairs made to the New Maekawa house concrete facade included extensive repaint work. The challenge lied on matching the original color without having to redo the whole house and limit the intervention to the damaged areas. During construction, a short video of the repaint process was taken.
Maekawa looked for a pink tone similar to blushed skin. After 35 years of aging and botched repairs, in 2009 works to recover the facade were done. The 1974 completion photos were mostly black and white and to define the colour paint we had the collaboration of the architects in charge at the time from Maekawa and Associates.
