After close to 2 years of work and several unexpected delays, the New Maekawa house renovation has been completed in June 2026. Starting with a structural assessment back in 2024, the process included the update of the MEP and HVAC systems as well as numerous interior repairs. Additionally, the exterior concrete was also cleaned, repaired and repainted, following the advice of Maekawa Associates and Shimizu Construction Co.
The renovation focused on returning the house to the original condition when it was completed back in 1974. Works included updating the technical facilities of the house, solving problems that have been accumulating for the past 50 years while recovering the character of the original design.
We were fortunate to have the close collaboration of several companies originally involved with the design and construction of the building, including Maekawa Associates, Shimizu Construction Co., Central Concrete and several others.
We aim to include the building in the historical properties registry of the city in the near future.
